The fifth Integrated Children's Services Conference will take place at the Beach Ballroom on Monday 12th June 2017

All children's services staff and partners across allsectors are invited and encouraged to attend.

The Conference will run as an afternoon only session to give as many colleagues as possible the opportunity to attend:

The conference will be opened by Gayle Gorman, Director of Education and Children’s Services at Aberdeen City Council and Chair of the ICS Board. The focus of the conference will be the formal launch of the new Aberdeen City Integrated Children’s Services (ICS) Plan 2017-2020.

We are going to showcase some of the work of our ICS Outcome Groups and how they will take forward the ICS Plan’s priorities. We will also provide information about how you can help us promote and deliver the plan in your area of work.

Tea and coffee will be provided to delegates during the interval. The full programme for the conference is shown below.

5.30pm – 6.30pm Interactive discussions looking at the four priorities of the plan and how partners and practitioners can help deliver these in their own settings

Improving employability and life skills in young people

Youth engagement in Aberdeen City

The group will present on how children and young people were consulted as part of the Children’s Services Plan and show examples of the impact young people are making in the City through their engagement and volunteering work

GIRFEC

Improving outcomes for Children and Young People through researching the effectiveness of multi-agency meetings in Aberdeen City

We will discuss the process used to create 4 questionnaires focused on sampling the experiences of children/young people, parents and carers and practitioners who are partners during multiagency meetings taken place in two ASGs. The proposed research will be discussed along with the possible uses of the data when returned to improve the multi-agency meeting process and therefore outcomes for children and young people in Aberdeen

Responsible Outcome Group

Informed responsibility, encouraging positive decision making

Risk taking and decision making are life skills which are used daily and the ability to make positive and informed choices requires to be learnt. Informed responsibility will be achieved when our young people have access to information which will answer their questions

Nurtured Outcome Group

Family Learning Team

The team will show a video of a parent discussing the impact the Family Learning Home Support Service has had on her and her child

Aberlour Skills for Work

The group will show a short film with Aberlour’s Skills for Work students at St Machar Academy talking about their learning and how it will impact on their future career choices. The young people are also filmed on work placement with the nursery managers reflecting on the skills and qualities acquired by the young people which they can apply to their work placement and employment prospects.

Healthy and Active Outcome Group

“Investing in our Children’s Future As a Consequence of Change”

(CEL 13- School Nursing)

A representative of the group will outline the process of change using action centred leadership methodology via Adair’s model to optimise services for School Age Children and Young People in Aberdeen City.

The representative will discuss how capacity is being increased through service redesign, skill mix and transforming roles to provide a safe service

and continually improve the quality of the school nursing service to Children and Young People.
